I found BackyardChickens.com to be full of information, ideas and help.  I also scoured the library for books on keeping chickens, coops, etc.  Everytime you learn something new, Google it and learn more.  Questions lead to answers and many more questions - it can get consuming, but is fun.

I've requested many, many books through the library.  This will of course lead to a lot of repetition, but each book has some new info to add and new ideas to inspire.  In particular, I found Storey's Guide to Raising Chickens by Gail Damerow absolutely full of good information.

Welcome and best of luck to you.

The Chicken Keepers group here at Localfoodcleveland.org may be helpful as well as the Chicken Resources Document. There is also a group actively promoting hens in Lakewood.
