Comment by Lisza Christine on March 21, 2012 at 9:26pm I am doing talks/lectures on Honeybee Conservation and what backyard beekeepers can do to actually help honeybees--THERE IS NO SENSE IN ANY COLONY BEING LOST TO BEE-KEEPER ERR!(most bee death direct result of bee-keeper)! Small groups, Community Gardens, individual consultation, schools...Why did your bees die? DID YOUR PACKAGE/SPLIT BEES COME WITH UNDETECTED DISEASE AND DOOMED FROM THE START? Know the facts--bees disappear last autumn? (trust me it wasnt a swarm) dead out in winter, or spring collapse?? SIMPLE SOLUTIONS TO PERPLEXING QUESTIONS FOR HEIRLOOM COLONIES RESULTS--If you are exasperated with the huge investment in questionable equipment, unsure of advice from bee dealers or social groups, and ready to GIVE UP because you can't keep your bees alive? (usually takes 2-3 years of death b4 most stop trying)--wide road to death--narrow road to life-- but so easy...Lisza Christine-- Founder-- Western Reserve Honeybee Conservation Society--
Comment by Paul Edward Buser Jr. on October 25, 2011 at 8:43pm It may be to cold to feed because bees will culster around 40 degrees. They will not break to feed. But you can try they will feed during daytime tempertures. Hopefully in the 60s. If you can move some empty frames in the top middle from the bottom that would work. Or you can extract 3 frames and make room.

Comment by Paul Edward Buser Jr. on April 23, 2011 at 11:46am Yet another reason why consumers need to buy honey only from their local beekeeper: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/technology/science/honey-launde...
This is frightening, truly frightening.

Check out http://www.greaterclevelandbeekeepers.org/ They offer a great four week beginner course starting in Feb. I took the class and started a hive last year.
http://www.geaugacountybeekeepers.org/index.html is an option too.
Comment by Kelli Hanley on January 7, 2011 at 3:02pm I am located in Geauga County and was wondering if anyone could suggest a place/group for me to get involved with in this area? I am planning on start a hive this spring but have experience. Any suggestions?
