Are you looking for chicks or full grown layers?

Hi All. I'm looking to start a back yard flock. Anyone have any ideas where I can get pullets? I can have chickens here in North Olmsted but I don't really want any Roos! I'm going to be building my coop in the next few weeks (as soon as tax money gets here lol). I don't think I really care about the breed, although I wouldn't mind if someone had easter eggers or Ameracaunas because I think my girls would think colored eggs are a hoot!

I have a plethora of live mealworms and beetles. If anyone is interested in getting some free mealworms for your birds or want some beetles to start raising your own mealworms drop me a note. You would have to pick them up at my house in Lakewood. While supplies last....

Oho State University Extension will be hosting two workshops on raising chickens this year. March 7th and June 6th will be the sessions in this 2 part series held at 7800 Detroit (Cleveland Catholic Charities MRS offices). Mark your calendars, more info to come. Great news! We got our excemptions approved by the Mayor! So, 3 Lakewood Families can now legally keep hens!(including my own) Over the next year we will be working on changing the ordinance so that more people can have them. So, yay!

I located a cruelty free, organic meat processor about an hour away from Cleveland. That's pretty far, but if someone wanted to get a big order processed and is unable to do it, this seems like a great alternative. http://www.localharvest.org/whitefeather-meats-M37282

And for the vet, we took our  injured chicken to West Geauga Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Christine Pappas took care of her!

I met a woman from Life's Little Adventures Farm a non-profit farm for helping kids heal who is willing to take roosters that are unwanted. http://www.lifeslittleadventuresfarm.org/

Do you know any Amish folks? They'll often take them - or would know someone who would.
