Flyer to distribute when you see homes with fruit trees....this is admittedly a pretty lame flyer and it didn't load too well, so if anyone wants to make one, please do.

Wendy,
Are the Cuyahoga Valley blackberries near the Towpath Trail or other particular spots?

Wendy, I have an idea as to how you, all Cleveland Italians and anybody else who is interested could grow fig trees and lots of other good stuff year round. I think that we should build a solar-powered COMMUNITY GREENHOUSE! There is one in Cheyenne, Wyoming (if they can do it in that kind of extreme weather, I'm sure we could!) Ifyou are interested, check it out at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cheyenne_Botanic_Gardens
They also have a website.
I read that in the 1930's, Brooklyn Hts. Ohio was the greenhouse capital of the United States. Maybe it's time to make a comeback. Imagine being able to grow our own fruits and vegetables all year long! Take care. Kim

If any of you are near, or want to meander out to Penisula soon...the berries are ripening. My son and I are headed out this weekend to get a hold of some of the blackberries found all over the Cuy. Valley National Park. Does anyone have any good hints on anything else near Cleveland?

Kim,
I have a neighbor who is Italian and we've debated Fig trees for 5 years now since moving back here from Italy ourselves. Apparently a large precentage of the Italian community has been in competition to grow Fig Trees here for years and none of us have been sucessful, so alas.....if Italians can't grow a fig tree in Ohio...no one can! Ha! If you ever do find one, let them know that they have major bragging rights!!

Hey folks. Does anyone know of a peach tree or two around? I'm looking to squirrel some away for the winter. Thanks!

Someone asked about where to go to pick strawberries on the Westside. My grandma always goes to Rosby's off of Schaff Road near Brookpark Rd, I think..She says that they said they don't spray their berries. They also have pick-your-own raspberries when the time is right.

The mulberry bushes are bursting right now. There is one behind my house by Garrett Morgan School. We picked some last year and made preserves, but there is so much to share if you have a ladder bring it, the tree is high.

Bobbi. Hi. Could you please email me a copy of the flier? I didn't see how to get it to print from this site. My email address is : ecologique@live.com I will definitely distribute it in my neigbhorhood. I was down on W. 45th and Franklin last night at a lecture and saw a lot of nice old looking flowering trees. Will have to go back to check it out! thanks! Kim
