Tell us about yourself:
I presented serve as a free lance writer, consultant, teacher, and filmaker specializing in local food systems. From 2000-2009, I directed the New Agrarian Center. We are based at the George Jones Farm in Oberlin, a 70 acre farmstead owned by the college that includes market gardens, restored wetland and woodland habitat, and a funky strawbale office. We work regionally through the City Fresh program to improve local food access in inner-city neighborhoods, coordinate youth programs, garden installations, and community food security. We also produce short web-films and documentaries that highlight the diversity and inspiration of our collective local food work in Northeast Ohio. I believe strongly in local foods as an example of authenticity marketing. You know the people, the land, and the community involved with growing it, eating it, and composting it!
What gifts can you give to Cleveland's local food community?
Community organizing, film, writing, permaculture, natural building, research, regionalism, farming, farm to college, urban food systems, photography
What knowledge and practices do you want to learn?
Cross-regional collaboration
What about local food makes you most excited?
Compost and what it tells us about the workings of the universe...

Brad,
Thanks so much for hosting the Polycultures screening at the Waterloo Cafe last night. It's a great film and the discussion that followed was very motivational. Let me know about the best days to come help out on the farm.

Brad, I saw your event for Michael Pollan. I thought you might be interested that he was interviewed on Fresh Air (NPR) on Oct. 20. For those of us who can't make it to the Oberlin event it is well worth it to listen to the 40 minute interview. In addition there is a link to his OPEN LETTER TO THE NEXT PRESIDENT and a sample from IN DEFENSE OF FOOD.

Just google or go to npr.org, programs Fresh Air, Past shows, Oct 20, Food as a National Security Issue or you can try the link below.
