I agree that the movie was on the dry side, but it was certainly loaded with provocative facts and made very good use of computer graphics to put the facts in context. I would love to see the producers of this film release some sort of powerpoint th…
Went and saw the movie last night. I enjoyed it but I hope that people would be a little more critical in thinking about what the film presents and the issues involved. A few examples:
Let's talk about food safety and regulation which was one of th…
Kind of dry, I enjoyed King Corn better but Michael Pollan adds a great credibility to the serious issues. Would have liked to see more about the real cost of "cheap" food, health care, transportation, subsidies etc.
Would also have liked to see mo…
I also saw this sock-in-the-gut movie last night. I'm all pumped up to spread the word and vote hard with my dollars for local food. I was especially rocked by listening to speaker Warren Taylor's story from Snowville Creamery in Pomeroy, OH. I enco…
What I've learned from the movie and from a couple of my customers is to literally eat with the seasons... It makes sense too as it makes you appreciate when strawberries are in season. You get to wait all year for that one month and it makes it exc…
My husband and I left the theater with our heads spinning. Although we are educated consumers and make a point of buying organic and seeking out local produce, gardening, and cooking from scratch, this movie still left us in shock. The idea of eatin…
My husband and I are going to see this movie tomorrow, so I thank you for your synopsis and opinion! We're already growing what we can,and we have chickens for eggs and source all of the meat we consume, but we want to know what else we can do. In f…
Has anyone seen this yet? My girlfriend and I made the trip to go to Cedar Lee yesterday and watch this amazing film. Like most of you I'm already aware of whats going on in the industry which has led me to raise and produce most of our food.... aft…

My name is Jeff and I raise pasture poultry for local people. We strive for the healthiest possibe environment for our animals as we would only want the best for ourselves, the environment, our customers, and our animals. I will be turning 23 in July and just recently I was awarded one of the farms in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park through the Countryside Initiative. We have wasted no time in getting started and can only imagine what this opportunity will bring to the residents of Akron, Cleveland and surrounding communities. Hopefully with your help we will have farm tours, BBQ's, school tours, and many more...
What gifts can you give to Cleveland's local food community?
For starters we have Grass-FED eggs, chicken, and turkey available.
What knowledge and practices do you want to learn?
I want to learn to take care of a garden... I raise poultry not veggies... but I'm eager to learn!
What about local food makes you most excited?
Wow.... where do I start? How about when a kid sees a chicken for the first time? Seeing how excited they get with the ducklings and chicks puts a smile on my face... It doesn't get any better than fresh eggs, produce, or meat from a farm that does it right, what's not to get excited about?
