Michaela,
I don't think you need to do anything. We've had hens with all kinds of feet problems, even one we almost had to amputate a toe, if indeed they are called toes. Just keep an eye on her. Keep in mind they often get frostbitten toes and live…
I noticed today that one of my chickens appears to have a broken toe. I'm not sure how long it has been like that, and she seems to be walking fine. Anyone know what I should do?
Notice: we are planning on meeting on Thursday of this month for a small farm/urban farm animal keepers group buying cooperative... please join us at the new group to help us plan the meeting!

Hey all! I started a new community on localfoodcleveland for our co-op: http://localfoodcleveland.ning.com/group/CASFAKC . All the information and the title are tentative, and if other folks want to change them, let me know. Join up and we can keep…
good point. the schedule is looking a bit difficult... i think i could set up a teleconference instead. that would be easier for all! I could set up a DimDim meeting.
Lets return to the availability we left at http://doodle.com/7uta4fgrs55dmsh8 and…
Keeping this online to some degree would be helpful. I'm big into chickens and I think I have things to offer, but with everything else I have going on there is no way I have time for meetings...
any online options?
Gather 'round Farm is a permaculture garden on top of asphalt located at 3919 Lorain ave. We have a 1/2 acre and we sell produce, flowers and eggs to our neighbors on W. 38th street and beyond. We have many fun events. We are still in our design stages, but we intend to be a small scale model of sustainability practices that can be implemented in your own backyard or parking lot.
What gifts can you give to Cleveland's local food community?
love and happiness
What knowledge and practices do you want to learn?
vermaculture and sustainable living skills using everyday junk
What about local food makes you most excited?
eating fresh food right from the garden, rather than something 3 weeks old from a truck.
I heard from a friend that the health department told you your compost had to be in plastic bins. Is that true? You urban farmers can't compost? What's up with that?
Hello again Jocelyn. Thank you for your response. The photographs may have many uses. If my investigation leads to a journalistic end, I will try to have them published as an article, story or book. If they are interesting as stand alone images, I will list them with my stock photography agent.
Hi Jocelyn. I'd like to speak with you and other members of the Chicken Keepers with the hope that it will lead to an opportunity for me to photograph you and your brethren as you go about your business in 2009. Thanks!
George Remington
Now that I'm thinking about it...what is the definition of "friend" anyhow?
A while ago I sent Ms Kresge some URLs related to the crematoria issue...I'm guessing she didn't forward/show them to U...I thought the "permaculture" addy was 4 the Farm...evidently I was wwwwwrong...so I'll be sending them to U at the addy that Meegs gave me 4 the Farm. It's fascinating information...and there's more to this than just the mercury issue. I hope this assists you...as i understand there's a committee mtg somewhere at the end of this month.
I just got a possible lead for funding 4 "Locavorius Farm"...what do U think/know about Detroit Shoreway Development Corp?
Ok...that's all for now...tnx for wanting 2B my fiend!
