Brilliant Creative Documentaries

This is an excellent array of short documentary style videos from the creative office of Hillman Curtis. Telling stories with motion pictures, interviews and music is what I do in Cleveland. Please let me know if you have a story to tell. I may be able to help bring it to life on the web. Cheers.

Hi Josh. I'm so happy that you are interested in helping to document this project! If you have time to sit down and chat we could meet at Liquid Planet on Clifton or at the Gypsy Bean Coffee Shop in Gordon Square, both of which are near the garden plot, if it's convenient for you. Lunch time, after-work or weekends would all work for me. You can also e-mail me at ecologique@live.com and I'll give you my phone number and we can discuss the project over the phone if you prefer. After I meet with some of the refugee families, I will find out when and if they are interested in being interviewed...I was working with a Somali family last year and if they want to participate in the garden I am sure that they would love to be interviewed. Sometimes it is good to arrange for a translator (I like having the kids do it, when it isn't an official or a life-or-death type situation-their translations can be a bit free-form; definitely fun and interesting, but a professional can also be helpful to get the facts and/or nuances in a narration..) I'm sure our American gardeners would be happy to be interviewed as well. Just let me know what you'd like to do. Thanks again! Kim

Hey Josh. My name is Kim and I just started the Good Earth Community Garden on West 96th and Madison Avenue. We are partnering with Catholic Charities Office on Refugees and Migrations and so far have about 12 families from Somalia, Bhutan, Burma and Burundi (the 3 B's) as well as a diverse group of community gardeners from the neighborhood and surrounding suburbs. I am also going to be reaching out to Central American immigrant (farmers) if space allows..I would LOVE to document this process and was going to go out and buy a cheap dig camera, but if you could help point me in the right direction or help at all with the production of a short video that would be awesome..Right now we are starting with an abandoned piece of land that looks (and is) pretty rough, so I definitely would like to document that and maybe interview some neighborhood people and our farmers-to-be if you are into it..Thanks! Kim
