Congrats on all the great press your initiative has been receiving lately - and more importantly the tangible progress of the Galleria Greenhouse. Fantastic!

Thanks for the friend request! Sorry it took us so long to get back to you! We went into 'hibernation' for a month before we had to get out and start pruning again!!

We are working in the Detroit-Shoreway neigbhorhood. Mike from Bee Dance is actually a member of a group I'm in that is developing a micro-enterprise project for and with refugee families. We're going to be making re-usable shopping bags out of recycled materials. We could do some for the Galleria stores/farmer's market as well if you are interested. We will be getting started w/the project some time in Feb/March. Thanks!

In my experience people are rather more interested in their own ideas than to help others develop their ideas. I am somewhat of an enigma, my ideas are mostly to help others develop their ideas... it is what I do and it is my highest and best use. I have my own ideas but I have experienced a noticeable lack of cooperation or support for these ideas... one idea briefly, when it comes to solar panel design - why flat? Nothing that lives in nature that uses the sun grows flat - so why flat? - Why not use the new solar thin films to recreate the structure of, say, a Maple Tree? The average Maple tree has has at least 50,000/70,000 sq. ft. of leaf surface area from a half million leaves. Why not mimic the structure of a tree - Leaves Gather, Branches transmit, trunk consolidates and roots distribute. Imagine 500,000 4"x4" leaves harvesting the suns rays in a space the size of an oak or maple tree... how much juice could 50,000 sq.ft. of solar film produce? About enough for 500/1000 homes in the space of a tree. Life/nature grows up not out and does not produce flat, wide, and long living singular forms. Why has a tree developed as it has? Because life depends on it...

I am tied up until the end of next week. Is there a concept floating around in your mind as to how you see this working. Hydroponics, retail, education - veggie nursery etc. As much information as you are able to tell me before we meet will allow my brain to work. It doesn't need to be fancy, formal, or in expert written form... random bullets from the vision & idea is fine. The owner has some idea too... selling the facility? leasing?

I don't need a visit to picture the the possibilities... I need to climb in your heads to see your vision. It is easy to picture it full of hydroponics, fruit trees and seed beds vibrantly producing local food year 'round... but it is the operation and functionality that I am very curious about... this is the part of the plan that is important. Is the plan to just add hydroponic systems to the existing commercial/retail plan or to turn the facility into hydroponic/aquaponic food systems with education, production etc.? Aquaponic raises fish that feed the hydroponic vegetable growth which cleans/filters the water for the fish...

Power & water are a concern as well... especially thinking sustainably.

Let me know your thoughts... I am very surprised that no one else has contacted you through this site regarding this idea.
