If you buy hens from Myers you can buy 17 week old pulleys and they will be ready to winter this fall, but I don't recommend setting up a brooder at this time of the year that's for sure. Since hens start to lay at about 20 weeks you will be ready f…

Tell us about yourself:
My husband and I moved back to the states almost 5 years ago now from Europe, and we thought we'd moved back to another planet when we came "home". As veterans we dearly love our country, but when we came home in the middle of the Bush years we thought we'd entered another war zone! We now strive to live as we used to...simply, wholesome foods, green living...as we did in Italy. Now wonder so many end up on Xanax these days. Thankfully I met so many new wonderful people here in Cleveland and have managed to carve out my own little "La Fattora Verdi" my little Green Urban Farm, yes it's in even in Hudson..haha!
What gifts can you give to Cleveland's local food community?
I promise to always buy as much locally as I possibly can! I'm a LEED AP, and I sit on the NEO USGBC, I'm also political..so if that helps anyone..call om me.
What knowledge and practices do you want to learn?
Anything...I'm up for it all!
What about local food makes you most excited?
I grew up on a farm in SE Kansas, so eating fresh farm raised food is like going home for me. I want that for my family, I want my son to be healthy! I want to know what is in my FOOD!
