10% Grown Locally = 4,000 acres, 8,000 jobs and a $360 million economy

What would it look like if 10% of the food that families in Cleveland ate was grown within the city limits? This question leads to an interesting and pretty inspiring story problem. Follow me for a bit here: 1. According to the latest U.S. Census data, the City of Cleveland is home to about 438,000 people. 2. According to… Continue

Peter, I am just now finding all these comments on my site. What a silly goose to have overlooked them this long.

Anyway, I was happy to invite so many folks to the website. I feel that one of the great benefits of City Fresh is it is an easy, accessible way to bring folks into the idea of local food. Shoot, it hooked me!

Hi,
I just found out about a service that delivers local organic food right to your door. Meat, dairy and veggies. This osunds really convenient for the busy person who doesn't have time to go all over the palce. Do you want to add it to the Buy Local Distributors section?

Sure!

Since we already have most of the materials for that stuff collected here at extension, it seems like a good fit.
How would you like to go about it? We have information in a variety of kind of mishmashed formats. Lots of page-or-two fact sheets (besides the Ohioline bulletins) we could throw those up, or take a bit more time and rework them (probably a good idea although harder to pull off). How are you envisioning it to look on the site?

Thanks,

Brad

Hey Peter,
FYI:
I've been writing the "Ask OSU Extension" column in the PD's thursday Inside & Out section for the past few months. For the November 20th column, I gave LocalFoodCleveland a plug.
Sorry I missed the Food Congress!

Be Well,
Brad
